Johaug and her husband Nils Jakob Hoff have previously had daughter Kristin, 2. The plan is that the whole family will travel, if the birth goes as planned.
Had it been the man, he would have traveled. And he would have traveled without children and without his wife, she says.
The former cross-country skiing star says she is prepared for both praise and criticism for wanting to travel a few weeks after giving birth.
I think the "mom police" have to back down a bit. People must be allowed to do what feels right for themselves and not necessarily what everyone around them expects, thinks and believes they should do, says Johaug.
The 37-year-old is prepared that the plans may change. It is the last weekend she plans to be on site at the stadium in Italy. The first two weeks of the Olympic Games she will work for NRK in Oslo.
Johaug ended her skiing career in the spring.
