It has been clear for some time that the skiing star is postponing the decision on a potential continued effort until the Olympic Games in Cortina. The association announces that the 36-year-old has been given permission to provide a final answer later.

One who has given an answer, in the form of declining, is Astrid Øyre Slind. The 37-year-old was part of the Norwegian team that took silver in the dramatic women's relay at the World Championship, but is no longer part of the national team.

Among the new additions are two who, aside from the tracks, are a couple. Nora Sanness in the women's team and Andreas Fjorden Ree in the men's team. The former competed at the World Championship in Trondheim and finished sixth in the 5-mile event.

Women's team: Nora Sanness (new), Julie Myhre, Kristine Stavås Skistad, Tiril Udnes Weng, Lotta Udnes Weng, Heidi Weng, Kristin Austgulen Fosnæs, Margrethe Bergane, Mathilde Myhrvold and possibly Therese Johaug (has not given a final answer yet).

Men's team: Ansgar Evensen, Erik Valnes, Even Northug, Harald Østberg Amundsen, Iver Tildheim Andersen, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget, Simen Hegstad Krüger, Oskar Opstad Vike (new), Jan Thomas Jenssen (new) and Andreas Fjorden Ree (new).
