Just over four years will have passed since the second season came out, in the series' universe five years have passed.
Five years felt natural because if they had gone to college, they would have finished their studies by then, says series creator Sam Levinson during an HBO event in London, according to Variety .
Popular actors Zendaya, Hunter Schafer, Jacob Elordi and Sydney Sweeney will also be featured in the new season.
The reason for the long hiatus is partly due to the screenwriters' and actors' strikes that lasted for several months in the United States in 2023.
