Lasse Hallström's new TV series premieres on Sky Showtime on November 1, announces the streaming service.
The English-language "The Darkness" is based on Icelandic author Ragnar Jónasson's crime novels about Commissioner Hulda Hermannsdóttir, who, just before she is about to retire, becomes embroiled in a shocking murder investigation.
The lead role is played by Lena Olin, and other roles feature, among others, Tora Hallström, Jack Bannon, Douglas Henshall, and Björn Hlynur.
Lasse Hallström has previously made films such as "Gilbert Grape", "The Cider House Rules", "My Life as a Dog", and "Chocolat". Most recently, he directed the feature film "Hilma" about the artist Hilma af Klint.
