Peter Eggers and Mattias Nordkvist play the leading roles in the series about the murders in 2004, which could be solved 16 years later when a professional genealogist took on the case and obtained a DNA trace thanks to searches in an international genealogy database.
The series is directed by Lisa Siwe, with a script by Oskar Söderlund, which in turn is based on the book "The Breakthrough: How the Genealogist Solved the Double Murder in Linköping" by Anna Bodin and Peter Sjölund.
It was on October 19, 2004, that an eight-year-old boy was murdered on his way to school. A 56-year-old woman was also stabbed to death. The police investigation that followed became one of the largest in Swedish criminal history, and the murders looked set to remain unsolved for a long time.
