The former Elfsborg coach Jimmy Thelin has had a brilliant start to his stint in Scottish Aberdeen. In the first 16 competitive matches, it has resulted in 15 wins and one draw.

In the 17th match, it went awry in front of nearly 48,000 spectators at the national arena Hampden Park in Glasgow. Already after the first half, Celtic led the league cup semifinal 3-0. As many balls went in during the second half, and the Brendan Rodgers-coached Celtic could secure their ticket to the final, where either Glasgow Rangers or Motherwell await on December 15.

The big match winner was Japanese Daizen Maeda, who scored a hat-trick.

When Aberdeen and Celtic met in the league in Glasgow on October 19, the match ended 2-2, and the two unbeaten teams share the top spot with 28 points after ten matches.

Jimmy Thelin took over as coach in Aberdeen in June.
