Theater Giljotin in Stockholm is at risk of bankruptcy since the State Cultural Council has withdrawn the operational support for the theater next year.

Rikard Borggård, one of the theater's founders, says to Dagens Nyheter that the theater may now be forced to close down.

This came as a shock. We have not received any warning, says Rikard Borggård to DN.

He states that the theater's grant was reduced already last year. The lack of support for next year means that the theater loses a third of its funding.

The theater will appeal the Arts Council's decision. Teater Giljotin was founded in 1989 by Rikard Borggård and Kia Berglund.
