The President of the USA went out on his platform Truth Social on Wednesday and, without basis in reality, called his Ukrainian colleague a "dictator who doesn't hold elections". Trump continued with a threat that Zelenskyj must act fast, otherwise "he won't have a country left".

Sweden's Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) calls Trump's words "an incorrect description".

Zelenskyj is democratically elected, says Kristersson at a press conference.

Similar words are heard from many leading politicians.

The UK's Prime Minister Keir Starmer also defends Zelenskyj and, according to BBC, has phoned the Ukrainian leader to show his support.

"It's entirely reasonable to postpone elections during wartime, as the UK did during World War II", says Starmer in a statement.

"Absurd", says Germany's Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock to TV channel ZDF.

If you look at how reality looks instead of just writing something on the internet, you know who in Europe is living under a dictatorship: the people of Russia, the people of Belarus, she continues.

The country's Chancellor Olaf Scholz adds that Trump's words are "wrong and dangerous".

Norway's Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre agrees:

It's deeply unreasonable. He is a democratically elected president with a large majority who was attacked during his term of office, he says according to NRK.

Trump's outburst comes after he earlier in the day incorrectly claimed that Zelenskyj doesn't have the support of his people and criticized the Ukrainian president for not holding elections during the ongoing war.
