Actor James Ransone, best known for his role in "The Wire," has died, TMZ reports.

Ransone, who played corrupt dockworker Ziggy Sobotka in the second season of "The Wire," has died in Los Angeles.

The police responded to a residence on Friday and were able to conduct a death investigation. No crime is suspected in connection with the death.

In the early 2000s, Ransone appeared in TV series such as “Ed” and “The Third Shift” before getting his breakthrough role in “The Wire.” He also appeared in “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” “Hawaii Five-0,” “Burn Notice,” “Tangerine,” and the Stephen King films “It: Chapter Two,” “The Black Phone,” and “The Black Phone 2.”

He also had a memorable role as the brash Marine soldier Josh Ray Person in the miniseries "Generation Kill" (2008), where he played opposite Alexander Skarsgård.

Ransone was 46 years old.
