The winner of the super first round will receive his own prize for the first time: the Tommy Svensson Prize.

The former national team captain and coaching icon led Sweden to the World Cup bronze medal in 1994 and is strongly associated with Östers IF, which tops the Superettan marathon table.

In connection with the series' 25th anniversary, a 45-centimeter silver platter is now being launched for the winner, with all previous Superettan winners engraved.

"It is a great honor that I have made some kind of mark in Swedish football," says Tommy Svensson in a statement and continues:

"This means a lot to me, of course. It felt a little surreal when I found out. It feels great that my name will live on with it even on the day I don't."

Behind the initiative is Swedish Elite Football (Sef).

"When we celebrated Allsvenskan's 100th anniversary last year, it became clear how much history and traditions are appreciated. Now that Superettan is turning 25, we saw it as an obvious opportunity to create a new tradition. Tommy Svensson is an icon in Swedish football," says Sef's sports director Svante Samuelsson.
