Anyone heading out on the roads in northeastern Norrbotten County on Thursday should exercise caution. SMHI has issued a yellow warning for snowfall combined with wind. Difficult road conditions and poor visibility are expected during the afternoon and evening.
Even the bare mountains in the central Lapland mountains will be affected by strong to very strong winds and SMHI advises people to cancel planned mountain trips if they are not "properly used to the mountains".
During the night and early Thursday morning, there is also a warning for sudden ice slippage in parts of Västerbotten County and the coastal area of Norrbotten County.
Yellow warnings for gale force winds have been issued along basically the entire east coast, with winds expected to ease only on Friday night.
