Sundberg's family confirms the information to Swedish Radio. The comedian and actor from Skövde was born in 1929 and was active both on stage and in film. One of his famous monologues was "Lanthandlar'n", which was published in 1969. He also appeared in the long-running series "Hem till byn" as the disabled pensioner Börjesson.
Sundberg was perhaps best known for having provided the voice for the main character Skrotnisse in the puppet show based on Jan Lööf's children's books "Skrotnisse and his friends" from 1985.
Comedian Robert Gustafsson and actor Helge Skoog also participated in a story about the scrap dealer Nisse who helps his friend Bertil Enstöring escape from the thieving city engineer Ture Björkman.
Runo Sundberg turned 96 years old.
