Olofsson, with roots in Örnsköldsvik and new for the year from Buffalo, equalized to 1-1 halfway into the first period and scored the decisive 3-2 goal at the beginning of the third, on an assist from William Karlsson.
I like the way we win. Even though we fell behind after a good start, we found our way back, got that decisive goal and managed to hold on until the end. A fighting effort, says Karlsson to reporters after the match.
In Minnesota's goal, Filip Gustavsson, currently one of the league's best goalkeepers, was supposed to stand. Gustavsson, who has been selected to the Tre Kronor team for the four-nation tournament in February in North America, disappeared from the lineup just before the match start due to injury. Instead, Jesper Wallstedt made his season debut in Minnesota's goal. Wallstedt saved 24 shots out of 27.
Minnesota's coach John Hynes was brief after the match about the lower-body injury that Gustavsson is said to have sustained. Hynes says he believes it's not anything serious.
