The 33-year-old rapper, whose real name is Jeffery Lamar Williams, was charged with a number of crimes, including gang criminality and extortion. Each of the charges can, according to NBC, result in up to 20 years in prison.

He pleads guilty to six charges, including drug and weapons offenses. This follows an agreement with the prosecution, which means he will receive a 15-year suspended sentence.

He has been in custody since 2022 and has consistently denied all allegations. He has tried to be released on bail, but has been denied repeatedly.

The guilty plea comes days after three of his co-defendants also pleaded guilty.

The prosecutors have claimed that the rapper is the leader of a criminal gang. He claims that Young Thug and the other defendants in the case used the record label YSL, founded by the rapper, to conceal their criminal activities.

If the judge accepts the guilty plea, the trial, which is the longest for a criminal case in the history of the state of Georgia, will thereby be concluded, according to NBC.

The trial in court technically began in January 2023, but it wasn't until ten months later that a jury was selected, and last summer the original judge was forced to resign.
