The trade union: Great that we have the Chancellor of Justice backing us

The Ombudsman's criticism of County Governor Anna Kinberg Batra's nonchalant behavior and lack of respect for regulations is received with relief by the union at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm.

All this is something we have presented during the spring and when the recruitments were made, so for us it is a confirmation that our views have support. From a union perspective, we are relieved that we have the Chancellor of Justice on our side, says Susann Sass Jonsson, chairperson of Saco-S at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm.

Anna Kinberg Batra's actions have, according to Susann Sass Jonsson, led to a confidence crisis on several levels.

Partly towards other authorities, municipalities, and those affected by our decisions, but also within the house where many do not know if they have confidence in the leadership.

It is difficult to assess what is the worst, it is problematic that one has chosen to recruit a person one has a close relationship with, but it is at least as problematic that one has chosen to recruit a department head who does not meet the requirements. If it had been generally known that the merit requirements were not so important, perhaps there would have been more who could have applied for the position, she says.

Question that engages

Susann Sass Jonsson says it is important that the government also takes part in the investigations conducted internally at the County Administrative Board.

It is not enough that the government has confidence in the Governor, we employees must also have confidence in our manager.

Right now, a large employee survey is underway at the County Administrative Board in Stockholm, where one of the questions is whether one has confidence in the leadership, i.e. the Governor and the County Director.

The last day to respond to this temperature measurement is tomorrow Friday, and I do not want to anticipate the result, but I know that the response rate is high, around 90 percent, says Susann Sass Jonsson.

Will stay seated

Do you think the result of the survey is something that can make Anna Kinberg Batra resign?

No, I think she will choose to stay seated anyway, but with promises that we will work on what she can do to increase confidence in her. That is my qualified guess. If she is to resign as Governor, it is the government that will have to decide on it, says Susann Sass Jonsson.
