A "threatening situation" may have led to a man drowning in Borås in August, according to the prosecutor. But it has not been possible to prove any crime in connection with the death.

The drowning, in Stora Hässleholmssjön on August 25, has been investigated as a suspected murder, but the preliminary investigation is now closed.

Exactly what happened has not been clarified.

"However, the most likely thing is that the deceased, in an attempt to escape a threatening situation, fled into the water," says prosecutor Martin Westeröd in a press release.

Several people have been suspected of crimes during the course of the investigation.

"All these suspicions have now been dismissed and there is no reason to believe that further investigative measures would change the evidence in a decisive way," says Martin Westeröd.
