Telecommunication operator Telia will improve mobile coverage in rural areas. The investment of hundreds of millions of kronor covers 43 municipalities around the country and an area the size of Värmland.

Today, Telia's 4G and 5G networks cover 99.9 percent of the population and by the end of the year, 94 percent of Sweden's area, according to the company's own data. Now a new phase is beginning that will close the gaps in sparsely populated areas.

"The investment is needs-driven and the placement of new masts is primarily based on regional broadband strategies that show where reinforcement is needed most," Telia writes in a press release.
