The new government in Syria will publish a list of names "including some of the most senior representatives who were involved in the torture of the Syrian people", says Abu Mohammed al-Jawlani, the leader of the Islamist HTS.

"We will offer compensation to whoever provides information about senior military and security representatives who participated in war crimes", says al-Jawlani – who now signs with his real name Ahmed al-Sharaa – in a statement via Telegram, and adds that they will ask for the people who have fled the country to be extradited.

HTS emerged from al-Qaeda, but claims today to be independent. The US government, however, believes that some communication continues between them.

The extreme movement is listed as a terrorist organization in several places, including by the US and the UN.
