The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) has issued yellow warnings for sudden ice slicks along parts of the southern Norrland coast and the coastal areas of Gävleborg and parts of Värmland. The warnings apply until early Sunday morning.
Take it easy and follow the traffic rhythm. Keep a sufficient distance and margin to be able to react if someone else slips. It doesn't have to be you yourself, it's enough if someone else does it, says Bengt Olsson, press chief at the Swedish Transport Administration.
The Swedish Transport Administration does not perceive Saturday as more accident-prone than usual, while Bengt Olsson adds a caveat that not all accidents are reported to the authorities.
It's been quite slippery on the roads, but so far we haven't had any major accidents, and it's been relatively calm anyway, he says.
