Spain is clear for the Olympic Games final in men's football, after having knocked out Morocco in the semifinal.
Spain was behind 0–1 since Morocco had taken the lead through a penalty that Soufiane Rahimi executed perfectly in the first half.
Spain came back in the second half and made it 1–1 through Fermin Lopez, before Juanlu Sanchez could set the match-deciding 2–1.
A Swede also, somewhat unexpectedly, played a role in the semifinal.
After a rather complicated situation, Glenn Nyberg was substituted in as referee since the regular referee, Uzbek Ilgiz Tantashev, had injured himself.
Tantashev was in the wrong place at the wrong time and was tackled by a player who in turn was tackled. The referee was then seen limping off the pitch, and Swedish Nyberg – previously fourth referee – had to take over as main referee.
In the final, Spain will face France, who won 3–1 against Egypt after extra time in the other semifinal.
