The Swede sank Djurgården in Europe

Djurgården is the only Swedish team left in this season's European games. But after the first meeting in the Conference League eighth against Cypriot Pafos, they are hanging by a thread. "The Blue Stripes" lost 0–1, after Swedish Muamer Tanković scored the only goal of the match.

After a success in the fall league phase, Djurgården has made it all the way to the round of 16 in the Conference League. The opponent is Pafos, with Swedish players Ken Sema and Muamer Tanković in the starting lineup.

And after one of two meetings, it's the Swedish duo's Cypriot team that's in the driver's seat, with a 1-0 lead ahead of the return match in Stockholm.

A really tough match. We haven't lost yet, there's still one match left in Stockholm. We're only halfway, says Tobias Gulliksen to Disney+.

Near lead goal

The match was long and even, and after the first half, it was still goalless. Much thanks to goalkeeper Malcolm Nilsson Säfqvist, who made several fine saves initially.

But in the second half, the cold shower came for Djurgården.

Former "Bajaren" decided

An unfortunate situation where center-back Marcus Danielson couldn't get the ball away led to Muamer Tanković – with a past in Hammarby – being able to pop up at the far post and score the lead goal.

Djurgården did what they could to equalize, but to no avail.

Given the performance we're putting in today, I think it's okay with the result we get. Before the match, I would have liked a better result, but it's just a matter of coming back and showing that we can do better on Thursday, continues Gulliksen.

The return match will be played in a week, then in Stockholm at the 3 arena.

Corrected: In an earlier version, there was an incorrect formulation about the course of events at the goal.
