Tim Widings success continues.
He has qualified for the third major tournament of the year, the US Open, which starts next week, and has secured a spot on the PGA tour.
Swede Widings showed fine golf in both rounds and finished the qualifying round nine under par. With this result, the 26-year-old shared the lead in his qualifying group, which was played at Woodmont Country Club in Maryland. The qualifying is divided into ten different courses, and each course competes separately.
As a result, Widings is ready for his second major of the season. Earlier in May, he also played the PGA Championship, but missed the qualifying threshold by two strokes.
Widings plays regularly on the Korn Ferry tour, the feeder tour to the PGA tour, and leads the overall standings. The top 30 on the Korn Ferry tour at the end of the season will be "promoted" to the PGA tour.
One of these will be Widings, as it was clear on Tuesday that he had received a PGA tour card for 2025.
Aside from Tim Widings, two Swedes are set to play in the US Open, the stars Ludvig Åberg and Alex Norén.
