The Swede Disqualified: "Thought They Maybe Didn't Notice"

Johanna Hagström advanced to the semifinal in the classic sprint at the World Cup in Cogne. The joy did not last long. It was the only thing I could think of in the sprint, that I had made a mistake, says Hagström about the disqualification.

The Swedish long-distance star was disqualified for receiving her second warning of the season – after having skied in the so-called technical zone, where it is prohibited.

I skied outside the track in the last hill and it becomes kind of flatter there, so when you ski, you can't really glide out, so I skied instead. I noticed it right at the top, says Hagström to Viaplay.

She suspected already then that she would be disqualified.

It was the only thing I could think of in the sprint, that I had done wrong. But then I thought that they might not have noticed it, since they hadn't said anything. But it turned out as I expected, says Hagström.

Johanna Hagström has a World Championship victory this winter, from the sprint premiere in Finnish Ruka in November.
