Mikko Rantanen changes team in NHL. Again.

The Finnish forward star is clear for Dallas – just a few weeks after he was traded from Colorado to Carolina in a major deal, which also involved Chicago.

Now – on the last day when NHL teams can trade players this season – the 28-year-old has thus been traded to Dallas, where he has signed a lucrative eight-year contract. In return, Carolina gets center Logan Stankoven and some future draft picks.

I've played a lot against Dallas. I know they have a good team, says Rantanen – who became a Stanley Cup champion with Colorado in 2021–22 – to TSN.

The opportunity to get one of NHL's best forwards was an opportunity we couldn't resist, says Dallas general manager Jim Nill.

Dallas is second in its division and is the third-best team in the entire NHL. Now they get the playoff specialist Rantanen, who has scored 101 points in 81 playoff matches in his NHL career.
