The Stockholm Stock Exchange rises in early Thursday trading, for the fourth day in a row.

After a few minutes of trading, the broad OMXS index is up 0.2 percent. The narrower heavyweight OMXS30 index is at a new record high.

The movements are generally quite small, among the winners is the ball bearing company SKF, which after a few tough days turns up one percent. At the other end, the tissue company Essity falls by one percent. Last night, the company announced that it has bought an American business for over three billion kronor.

In the US, things were a bit mixed yesterday evening after Congress finally agreed on a budget deal, which now opens the government apparatus after the record-long shutdown.

During overnight Asian trading, it was mostly up.

The price of oil has fallen sharply, down below $63 for a barrel of North Sea oil, since statistics yesterday confirmed that supply is now greater than demand on the world market.

The krona has strengthened this morning, one dollar now costs 9.41 while the euro is quoted at 10.94.
