During Thursday's stage, Slovenian Primož Roglič crashed for the second stage in a row. Now his team, Red Bull Bora Hansgrohe, confirms that the 34-year-old is withdrawing.
"Primož Roglič underwent a medical examination after yesterday's stage and again this morning. The decision has been made that he will not start today and instead focus on his upcoming goals", the team writes on X.
Roglič had, despite his crashes, kept pace with the absolute top after twelve stages. The Slovenian was in sixth place, 4.42 behind his compatriot Tadej Pogačar who leads.
The 13th and approximately 165-kilometer-long stage will be run on Friday between the French towns of Agen and Pau.
