The 48-year-old writes on Instagram that she needed a doctor's certificate to be allowed to fly on after the layover in Zurich.

"My coach and I had to stay and go to the hospital to get a CT scan, which fortunately showed that everything looked good," she writes.

"All flights home were then fully booked, so we had to make another layover before we finally landed at Arlanda 22 hours after departing from the hotel."

Laurén – who lost the match against Michaela Kotaskova, Austria, for the WBF World Championship belt in welterweight – became severely swollen in the face after the fight.

"On the night after the match, the hematoma (swelling/blood accumulation) from the 'scalp' on my forehead sank down over my eyes and became so swollen that my eyes were completely shut."

"It meant that I couldn't open my eyes and see. Had to be led around like a blind person."
