The Briton had a match point against Argentine Facundo Diaz Acosta in the ATP tournament in Auckland, New Zealand.

Nonchalantly, he tossed the racket into the air. A woman in the stands was lightly hit, without being injured.

Norrie was warned and lost the match with 2–6, 3–6.

I didn't mean to do it, but it's still not ideal to do it and I've never done anything like it, says Norrie about his behavior according to AP.

He apologized to the spectator and it was accepted.

I apologized very quickly and I want to apologize to everyone. It wasn't a big deal, but it's easy to hit someone in the wrong place or someone who's not ready, says Norrie.

Novak Djokovic was disqualified from the US Open 2020. The Serb accidentally hit a lineswoman with a ball. In the French Championships 2023, Miyu Kato and Aldila Sutjiadi were eliminated from the women's doubles after Kato hit a ball girl.

Not to forget is Marc Polmans, who was not allowed to play more in the Shanghai Masters 2023 after he sent a ball straight into a judge's face.
