Phil Foden has temporarily left the English European Championship squad in Germany and returned home to England for private reasons, reports BBC.
According to several British media outlets, the reason for his return home is to attend the birth of his third child.
According to a press spokesperson for the English Football Association, as referred to by BBC, the 24-year-old Manchester City player will rejoin the squad. However, it is unclear when.
Foden has started in all three of England's group stage matches and played 88 minutes in Tuesday's 0–0 draw with Slovenia before being substituted. Like many other English star players, he is still goalless in the European Championship.
On Sunday, England will play in the round of 16 in Gelsenkirchen. The opposition will be determined on Wednesday evening when groups E and F are decided.
