Competitors will be the relay team from the World Ski Championships in Trondheim, the relay team from the World Orienteering Championships and the women's national cheerleading team.
Mjällby had an unparalleled season in the men's Allsvenskan and the team from Listerlandet in Blekinge not only won the Swedish Championship gold medal – the biggest upset in the history of Allsvenskan, according to many – but also broke the points record.
A Cinderella story that became world news.
Now the team has been nominated for Team of the Year at the Sports Gala.
But the competition is fierce. The Swedish women's long distance runners took World Cup gold in both the sprint and the long relay, where Jonna Sundling made up a huge 37-second deficit against Norway in the latter.
In the World Orienteering Championships, the Swedish women, led by Tove Alexandersson, took home a superior gold.
The women's national cheerleading team won the World Championship silver medal.
The Swedish Sports Academy jury has also selected candidates in two additional categories.
For the Performance of the Year, pole vault star Armand Duplantis, World Cup gold and world record, Frida Karlsson, gold in the 5-mile in the World Ski Championships, golfer Maja Stark, US Open winner, and discus thrower Daniel Ståhl, World Cup gold in the last throw, are nominated.
As Leader of the Year, Håkan Carlsson, orienteering, Greg and Helena Duplantis, athletics, Stefan Thomson, cross-country skiing, and Fredrik Wetterstrand, golf, are nominated.
