The temperature in the services sector dropped in October, according to the purchasing managers' index for the month. The index, which is produced by Swedbank and the purchasing managers' organization Silf, fell to 55.4 in October from 57.9 in September.

"The recovery in the services sector has gained momentum during the autumn, even though the index declined in October. Lower interest rates from the Riksbank and a more expansionary fiscal policy may in the long term lift the services sector and may already be reflected in the business plans of service companies, which continued to rise in October," says Jörgen Kennemar, responsible for the analysis of the Purchasing Managers' Index, in a press release.

This is the third consecutive month that the services sector has been in the growth zone. An index figure above 50 indicates increased activity in the sector.
