Goalkeeper star Sandra Toft, 35, surprisingly dropped from the handball European Championship in December.
It became clear when national team captain Jesper Jensen presented the squad for the championship.
Toft plays for the Hungarian top club Györ, where she is a teammate with Swedish star Linn Blohm.
Toft is Denmark's most capped player with 101 matches in the Olympic Games, World Championship, and European Championship. She has only missed one Olympic Games and one World Championship since her national team debut in 2011.
Althea Reinhardt and Anna Kristensen form Denmark's goalkeeper duo in the European Championship.
The selected players represent a promising future for Danish handball, says Jesper Jensen.
The European Championship takes place from November 28 to December 15 in Austria, Hungary, and Switzerland.
