We have a clear plan for how to build a sustainable winning culture, says Henrik Sedin at a press conference.

The brothers' first decision is to promote Ryan Johnson to general manager. He previously served as assistant to his Swedish predecessor, Patrik Allvin.

The Sedins themselves take over from the distinguished Jim Rutherford, who has taken a step back to an advisory role within the organization.

It's no easy task for the former greats, both of whose jersey numbers have been retired by the Canucks after 17 seasons with the club.

The team finished last in the NHL last season after trading their star Quinn Hughes and needs to rebuild the squad from scratch.

Vancouver will select third overall in the NHL draft in June.

The brothers' message at the press conference was: 'hurry slowly.'

"To do this as quickly as possible, we have to be careful and take it slow. It's the fastest way to get where we want to go," says Henrik Sedin.

Daniel and Henrik Sedin, from Örnsköldsvik, were drafted second and third respectively by Vancouver in 1999 and hold several records. Daniel is the Canucks' all-time leading goal scorer and has the second-most points behind record holder Henrik, who also has the most assists and holds the club record for games played.

They hung up their skates in 2018, but have held various minor roles within the club since 2021.
