The Secret Relationship Revealed – After 13 Years

Chelsea coach Sonia Bompastor reveals that she has had a secret relationship with her assistant coach Camille Abily - for 13 years. With hindsight and based on our experiences, we realize that we should have revealed it from the start, says the 44-year-old to L'Équipe.

It is in Bompastor's newly published autobiography that the French football coach tells about the relationship for the first time.

The couple met when they played in Lyon and have since been a couple, without anyone outside knowing about it. Together, they have four children.

Revealing my life and my relationship with Camille after, as I describe it in the book, these thirteen years of lies, is still something that we are not entirely comfortable with. We are quite discreet and like to have a normal life, says Bompastor.

Last summer, Sonia Bompastor and Camille Abily became coaches in Chelsea where Swedes Zecira Musovic, Johanna Rytting Kaneryd and Nathalie Björn play.

Camille is not my girlfriend at work. Camille is my assistant coach. We know and complement each other so well that we become very effective in our work.
