Maddison Inglis can look back on the most fun and successful days of her career as a tennis player. "It has changed my life," says the Australian.

But Inglis will play no more matches in the women's singles at the first Grand Slam tournament of the year.

World number two Polish Iga Swiatek beat qualifier Maddison Inglis in the fourth round. Inglis won just three games in the 0–6, 3–6 loss.

Swiatek has won six Grand Slam titles but has yet to lift the trophy in Melbourne. She will face Elena Rybakina in the quarterfinals.

Maddison Inglis reached the fourth round after injured Japanese player Naomi Osaka withdrew from the tournament.

"It's been like a dream," Inglis said of the Australian Open experience.

For the achievement, she will receive around three million kronor in prize money and important ranking points.
