The American sprinter, who has Olympic silver and bronze and a World Cup gold in the 100 meters, is currently suspended for missed whereabouts reports.
With only a few days left until the Enhanced Games, the competition where doping is permitted, the 30-year-old says he has not taken any prohibited substances but is competing for financial reasons because he is banned from competing elsewhere.
"If you get fired from your job, wouldn't you look at other ways to make money?" says Kerley, who is suspended until 2027 and whose goal is to compete in the 2028 Olympics.
He says he has been regularly tested for doping in recent months.
