The jeep-like Mercedes is traditionally white and has a heated, rotating papal seat standing on a red carpet.
According to Swede Ola Källenius, CEO of Mercedes-Benz Group, it took "hundreds of hours of passion and craftsmanship" to build the unique car, reports Euronews.
Pope Francis, who has long been a strong advocate for the climate, will be the first pope to meet his followers emission-free on St. Peter's Square in the Vatican.
