The Växjö police intervened on Thursday against what is believed to be a bomb factory in a locality in Alvesta municipality, reports Smålandsposten.

Two men in their 30s, residents of the locality, were arrested and during house searches, the police found large quantities of dynamite as well as a pistol. According to information to SMP, it concerns "several tens of kilos" of dynamite that the police seized.

The newspaper writes that the police suspect that so-called thermos bombs have been manufactured and then delivered to western Sweden. Two thermos bombs have been traced back to the bomb factory. Previously, a woman and a relative of hers are also suspected of involvement in the case.

The extensive investigation is led by another police region and the Växjö police are assisting.
