Pianist Sebastian Iivonen is awarded the Anders Wall Music Prize, the Anders Wall Foundation announces in a press release.

The winner is chosen through a competition where one instrument group is highlighted each year.

Sebastian Iivonen won with Johannes Brahms's Third Piano Sonata in F minor, capturing the jury "from the first to the last note".

The 27-year-old Stockholmer began his piano studies at the age of six and made his debut as a soloist in the Stockholm Concert Hall at the age of ten. He has performed at the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall in Moscow and Carnegie Hall in New York, among other places.

The award was established in 2024 to provide support to young instrumentalists on the path towards a professional career and comes with a continuing education scholarship of SEK 125,000.
