In a newly written adventure, the Phantom is drawn into an international spy plot. Screenwriter Mats Kejonen has taken note of Malmö as a hub for international espionage during the Cold War. He also weaves in Malmö FF, who won the Swedish league title in 1953, and lets the Phantom meet Ingmar Bergman, who was working as a director in the city at the time.
“Bergman's encounter with the Phantom also has a small, unexpected connection to one of his most classic films,” Mats Kejonen says in a press release.
Behind the publication of the Swedish Fantomentidningen is Story House Egmont, which has offices and a comics department in Malmö.
