Zero dollars have been invested, an informed source told the newspaper.

When US President Trump launched the council last winter, members pledged seven billion dollars to rebuild Gaza after the war. Trump himself pledged another ten billion dollars.

Some small sums have come in. But instead of being deposited with the World Bank, they have been deposited at the commercial bank JPMorgan, where the peace council’s assets cannot be independently audited. “At the moment, donors have chosen to use other alternatives than the UN-approved account,” a source within the council told the FT.

Rebuilding Gaza over the next decade is expected to require at least $70 billion.
