The film "The Patron" was awarded the Church of Sweden's Film Prize for 2026 at the Gothenburg Film Festival.

“The Patron”, directed by feature-film debutante Julia Thelin, is about a cleaning lady, played by Carla Sehn, who begins pretending to be a wealthy art dealer and patron.

"A skillfully woven story about an invisible woman who seizes the opportunity to change and realize herself. A chamber play where power, status and art are mixed in a dangerous game that captivates. A film with accurate direction, cinematography and acting," reads the jury's motivation, according to a press release.

The Church of Sweden Film Prize has been awarded since 2002. The prize consists of 50,000 kronor and the statuette "Angelos", created by Erland Forsberg.
