The requirements for becoming a Swedish citizen should be tightened, write the leaders of the government parties and the Sweden Democrats in a debate article in Dagens Nyheter.
The government appointed an inquiry last autumn on tightened requirements for Swedish citizenship. The results of this will be presented in January.
Before the tightened requirements are in place, there is reason to act against citizenships issued according to today's legislation, write the party leaders.
"To the extent that it is possible, measures should therefore be taken to prevent further Swedish citizenships from being issued, until the new legislation comes into force."
In the debate article, the party leaders also mention a number of points where further steps need to be taken "to get our country in order". This includes, among other things, combating organized crime and shortening healthcare queues.
