The Örebro Shooting – a Timeline

The school shooting in Örebro is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history. This is what we know about the sequence of events on February 4, minute by minute.

+ 12.33: The police receive an alarm about a shooting at Campus Risbergska in Örebro.

+ 12.38: The police are on the scene five minutes after the alarm about the shooting. They have described what could be described as an inferno with dead and injured people, screams and smoke development. The police perceive that the shooter then directs his fire towards the police instead of towards people in the school.

+ 12.45: Just over ten minutes after the alarm, the first response team is on the scene and enters the building.

+ 13.20: "There is a risk to life", the police announce, who have cordoned off and urge the public to stay away from the Västhaga area.

+ Around 13.30: The perpetrator is found dead inside the school premises. A large amount of unused ammunition and three weapons are found next to the deceased perpetrator.

+ 13.47: The police confirm that a shooting has taken place. Four are shot injured. The figure is soon updated to five shot people.

+ 14.12: "The danger is not over. The public MUST stay away", the police announce.

+ 14.19: "Inside the school, it should no longer be ongoing, but the danger is not over", says Evelina Åström, press spokesperson for the police. TT reports at the same time that the perpetrator has taken his life according to information.

+ 15.30: The police call a press conference: Five people have been taken to hospital. At the same time, witness accounts of many dead reach the media. Images of what are said to be victims circulate on social media.

+ Around 15.50: The police and national response team strike against what is believed to be the suspected perpetrator's residence in central Örebro.

+ 18.00: About ten people are dead after the shooting, the police report at a new press conference. The suspected perpetrator is one of the dead.

+ 19.30: Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) holds a press conference in Stockholm and states: "This is the worst mass shooting in Swedish history".

+ 23.55: At least eleven people are dead, the police announce.
