Hölting Nilsson and Andersson have established themselves among the world's top players thanks to consistent, successful play. With their final place in Saquarema, the duo took another step forward.
"Of course it's fun to be able to call ourselves world number one. It's a very good sign that we are on the right track in terms of development and that hard work pays off," the Swedish pair said in a press release.
Hölting Nilsson and Andersson top the world rankings ahead of Norwegians Anders Mol and Christian Sørum. David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig are third.
The next tournament will be held in Brasília, Brazil, on April 29.
