Last year, the agency was commissioned by the government to analyze the effects of the new media support. The aim of the new support is, among other things, to “strengthen democracy by promoting public access to independent, high-quality news reporting.”
According to the report, the new media support is more targeted than previously at local and regional news outlets. The increased editorial support has also contributed to more municipalities being covered by general news media.
The agency also assesses that the media support has contributed to the digital transition.
