Belgium was knocked out already in the round of 16 in the European Championship last summer. Despite harsh criticism after the European Championship elimination against France, Tedesco was allowed to stay on as coach, but now the Belgian Football Association announces that the cooperation is over.
The 39-year-old Italian, who took over the Belgian national team almost two years ago, has had a strained relationship with star goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois during his time as national team coach.
"Unfortunately, I, after all the events surrounding the coach and after much consideration, have made the decision not to return to the Belgian national team under his leadership", Courtois wrote on Instagram after being dropped from the European Championship squad.
