The Nations League match between the Netherlands and Hungary was interrupted after seven minutes due to an illness on Hungary's bench.
It was the former national team player Adam Szalai, 36, now assistant national team captain, who collapsed.
He was immediately surrounded by leaders, players, and officials and received medical treatment before being carried out of the arena and taken to a hospital in Amsterdam.
The match was resumed after about ten minutes.
"His condition is stable and he is conscious. He has been taken to the hospital for examination", writes the Hungarian Football Association in a statement.
The Netherlands won the match 4–0 and are thus clear for the playoffs in the Nations League along with group winner Germany, who crushed Bosnia-Herzegovina 7–0.
