It was revenge for the Lady Crowns, after the premiere loss against Canada in the six-team tournament in Finland.
Sweden shut out the Czech Republic and won 3–0. Wilma Sundin opened the scoring in the second period, before Elin Svensson, who normally plays for HV71, closed the match with two goals in the final period.
First, the 22-year-old scored in power play, before she set the final score with her 3–0 goal in an empty net.
Thus, Sweden stands with one win and one loss, and takes second place in the three-team group. In the semifinal on Saturday, they will face the toughest possible opponent in the form of the USA.
