The Junior Crowns lost their first regular practice before the JVM with 1–2 against Canada.

The match was the first that the Junior Crowns play on North American ice during the run-up to this year's Junior World Championships.

Canadian Brady Martin opened the scoring 39 seconds into the second period, before Viggo Björk equalized for Sweden on the power play a few minutes later. The Swedes otherwise reaped the rewards of their numerical superiority, with a total of one goal on five power plays in the game.

Herman Liv, son of Tre Kronor legend Stefan Liv, guarded the basket and saved a total of 22 of 24 shots.

The JVM tournament starts on December 26th.
